Latest Updates from Our Project:

Project Half Ran + More Art
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jun 08, 2020 at 05:13:15 AM

Hey folx!

We're exactly halfway through the project, which will finish at 5pm next Tuesday 9th June. Thank you all for your amazing work so far.

We've got Alec hard at work on the art now, in full swing with creating new things to populate the genteel inter-dimensional dungeon-space. Sketches include spooky ghosts, fights with animated books and all manner of other delicious library goodness. The below piece is one of my favourites, featuring a pair of quite snazzily dressed Neurovores feasting on a some floating brains.

Floating brains? Neurovores dandling from a spiral staircase? This is extreme aesthetics.

We're making fantastic progress towards our next stretch goal at £17.5k, and I'm hoping to announce small 20k and 22.5k stretch goals sooner rather than later, because we have more plans for this magnificent project.

A quick note: I made a joke last update about wrapping the book in leather. We won't do that, and no animal products will be involved in the creation of the book. I know this was obvious to most folx, but I just want to clear it up with concrete certainty.

Speak to you all soon,

Zach

96 Hours Left - Spooky Ghosts
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 03:54:58 PM

Hi everyone,

The project finishes at 5pm BST on Tuesday 9th June, so we've got just less than 96 hours left.

I'm sure you're all waiting on more Stretch Goals, but Emmy, Alec and I are hesitant to add any more.

I always aim to keep stretch goals simple, cheap and time efficient, so as not to delay the project or introduce additional risk for our customers. I know you all want to see more exciting things added to the book, but we're currently short on ideas for what to do while keeping with these overall goals. We lack the time to add more art or words,  and if we do anything more to make the books fancier we'll risk creeping the unit price too high and having to raise the price of books outside the Kickstarter, which could keep it out of the hands of fans of the original book.

Therefore, please don't expect any more Stretch Goals to be announced over the next few days, unless the project absolutely explodes or we come up with any amazing ideas very soon. I've watched too many Kickstarters become bloated under excessive stretch goals, and end up being extensively delayed.

That said, we're blasting away at art and editing is expected to get underway in the next few days. Here is a bookshelf, featuring the world's cutest bookshelf ghost. Isn't this pretty?

I would die to protect this ghost. He is my son now.

That said, please keep sharing the project and letting your friends know about it. This is especially important, as the project is running for 14 days not 28, so many folx may think the project has a few weeks left, when it doesn't!

Thanks again,

Zach

Wow - Funded and Stretch Goals
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 06:50:26 AM

We're funded.

We're like super funded.

Thank you all so much for your support, Emmy and I are so grateful that the project has received such incredible backing.

Let's talk stretch goals. We blasted by 3k in just under two hours, here is the stuff we were going to stretch goal:

  • £5000 - Professional Layout - We'll get a good layout artist in to design the book. We're not ready to announce who yet, but we promise it will be pretty.
  • £7500 - Offset Print Run - This means we can buy many more books, and concretely unlock floating spines, smyth-sewn binding, etc. It also opens up more options for the future.
  • £10000 - More Art - We hire Alec for another 8 pieces, upping the amount of art in the book to 24 pieces. We'd do more, but if we do, the book won't be ready in time and we'll have to delay fulfillment.

So all of this stuff is already funded,  here's the extra stuff we can look at going forward.

  • £12500 - Foil Cover - I love sparkly things. We'll add some foil to the cover.
  • £15000 - Ribbon - As an act of pure opulence to spite Daniel Sell of the Melsonian Arts Council, I will add a single ribbon to all physical copies of the book.

In other news, you can find out more details about SoulMuppet stuff here:

Thank you all so much! We'll be back soon with more updates, more art and more stretch goals!

Thanks

Zach

Stretch Goals Smashed - Maximum Opulence Achieved(?)
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 06:49:49 AM

Once again, we have surpassed a whole bunch of stretch goals, adding foil and a ribbon to the physical book. I am once at a loss about what to do for more stretch goals in the face of the amazing support you have all offered the project.

Now I have to email lots of people and work out if I can bind it in leather, or make this ridiculously fancy book glow in the dark, talk or fly. Maybe end papers or more ribbons? Maybe I should dip the books in gold and then send them out? I'm honestly just confused at this point

We have however got a few plans lined up for the future, and I can give you one further stretch goal.

At £17.5k, we'll pay David from Technical Grimoire to create a new version of his Stygian Library Generator. We'll rebuild this generator it to generate a full path through the library, which you can then download as a PDF, so all of your options for the entire session can be rolled out quickly and stored in one place for use as you go. It'll also include auxiliary buttons for looting bodies, random books and other tables in the book.

I also shared this wonderful art piece earlier this week on Twitter. OSR Indie Lich-Hop is a the genre of the Twenties!!!

OSR Lo-Fi Lichhop

Please continue to talk about and share the project on all of the social medias, so your friends can also get a hold of this glorious book.

Thanks again,

Zach
